you can wear a bit of autumn clothes in Joburg. I’m as you may or may not know,
not a big fan of cold weather but I kind of like autumn fashion, ...and spring fashion,
and summer fashion as well…
a gorgeous day here and I woke up just before 6am, just in time to see the sun
I have no
specific plans this weekend which is really nice, I need to do some work but it’s
a really fun project so I don’t mind at all. Thinking about making salmon for
dinner. What are you guys up to?
My mum use
to do this stunning salmon with almonds, I think she got the recipe from our neighbor
Ann. Anyway, its really good! Ill get back to you with info if it turned out
good or not.
Also, the gelish
nail polish, I never gave you an update, it worked perfectly and stayed on for
almost 3 weeks before I changed it.
Hope all is
well. This weekend flew away with two birthday parties for friends that turned
40. Both of them were so much fun and also an opportunity to catch up with new
and old friends.
for one of the parties were “fabulous” and I wore a dress that I really like
and it is very “spring”-like, even if it is autumn here… The temperature has gone down significantly
and I’m hoping for a mild winter or I’m spending a lot of time indoors.
This is from The Saxon hotel, they have an incredible spa and restaurant. This is also where Nelson Mandela wrote his book after being released from prison. What is super nice with this hotel is that it is located very central, less than 5 minutes from Sandton city.
Some of the pictures are borrowed from The Saxons webpage.
outside Johannesburg there is a dam called Hartbeespoort dam, it’s at the
bottom of the mountain range Magaliesburg.
There is a beautiful
lodge there called Leopard Lodge, enjoy dinner in this fantastic setting. I
woke up and walked out on the balcony to see a monkey finishing my salad from
the day before.
In the area
is also my favorite restaurant, Silver Orange Bistro. It’s an old citrus farm
where the son opened a bistro. The weather has been amazing this weekend, 25-27 degrees in the day but chilly evenings.
You stay in three hut like lodges on poles overlooking the dam from above.
You even get your own house cat!
Silver Orange Bistro Instead of regular dinner I had 3 starters, the waiter listed the different starters and I ended up with 2 of their cheese options, -You had me at Halloumi.
The cold is
coming to South Africa. Time for hot mushroom soup, and grilled sandwiches for
and tea in the afternoon. I have brought my duvet jacket from Sweden, not sure
if it will be necessary though.
here during winter are stunning, blue skies, sunny weather and crisp air but the nights are super cold. There is usually no insulation on the houses, or in the windows which makes it cold, cold, cold.
