First Sunday of Advent

Yesterday large parts of the family went to see and listen to my amazingly skilled cousin Helene Kimblad, she is a fantastic singer and it was such a blessing listening to her share the christmas spirit with the audience. The consert was held together with Hanna Wåhlin and also Järfälla Musikkår.

My adorable grand mother!
After the concert we had nice food. On the picture you can see Katarina, she is one of my oldest friends, or rather one of my friends that I have known for the longest. (coz I have friends that are older than her). We grew up as neighbors and she is considered to be family! I had Biff Rydberg, yummie!

For you people out there that still haven’t gotten the opportunity to get to know Kattis, I feel sorry for you! She always comes with the biggest smile and the biggest hart, amazing cook and she always makes people laugh with her funny ways! So next time you are in Stockholm, email me first and I will give you her contacts.
To celebrate my homecoming my fantastic mother has baked saffron buns for us to eat as the start of advent for Christmas.
Stockholm will always be very close to my heart. Sometimes when I come back here after a long absence my heart just relaxes. The best thing with Stockholm is that it is on the water and the shifting seasons changes the colors for every time I’m home.

Thanksgiving

We were invited to a fantastic thanksgiving dinner yesterday at some good friends of ours. Neil and his wife started a winery in South Africa called Arra. Natalie and Neil performed songs from their repertoire.
Neil, me and Andre lining up for the camera. Andre was one of my first friends in Naija, or maybe even my first! The evening was spent with good company, good food and fantstic song and nice discussions about art.

NNTM

Are you familiar with Americas Next Top Model? Its a concept sold by Tyra Banks, its basically a model competition on TV where people get voted out week after week and the last girl standing is 'the next top model'.

Anyway, the show has now reached Nigeria and advertisement has started to show up. Close to my office I saw this billboard, I guess they didn't have one in the right angle...

I got these stunning paintings on the beach last week. They are quite large in the measurements, I will frame them and show you when they are hung.

I’m proud to announce to my blog readers in Lagos, Mango Season has officially arrived!
Hi everyone, how was your weekend? Mine was a mix of work, pleasure, power cuts, no water, fresh fruit, dolphins, native dress, good friends, good food, sounds like a good weekend abi? (Abi is pigeon english and means "dont you agree?" kind of, this is a very common word for everyday use in Naija)
It has become a nice habit to go to the beach on Sundays for a couple of hours to relax. This weekend was no exception. To top things we didnt have water or electricity for the full Sunday so there was not much to do anyway...
We brought our friends dog Max to the beach.
We spotted a stim of around 15-20 dolphins swiming along the coast! This is the first time I have seen this since I moved here over 2 years ago and I have been out sailing alot and on the ocean.
Kids playing in the ocean.
Samson is preparing freshly caught fish and prawns for lunch
Magnus that left a comment, send me an email at hannaeinarsson@gmail.com and Ill tell you more about it.

Karaoke in Lagos

This is Thunde, he works as a security guard at GT Bank, one of the bigger banks in Nigeria. Like a large percentage of the Nigerian population he has something cooking on the side. In this specific case it is music career. Let me introduce snowface. I listened to the tracks in my car leaving the bank and I must say, very talented. Speaking of music, me and some friends went to a karaoke bar a couple of weeks back. The music was on when we got there and I thought that it was covers of famous songs, then my friend tells me that it is karaoke, it was so unbelievable good I would never have thought it!!! If I sang? Of course I did! If anyone thought that I was a cover? Not very likely...

Time

Things are a bit hectic at the moment, I will be back when I have more time.

Happy Sunday

In South Africa people drink Rooibos tea. The first time I had it was when As sister treated me to it a couple of years back. Since then I enjoy it weekly with a hint of honey and a splash of milk.
Sunday lunch was locally grown vegetables and eggs.

Fruit

I buy fruit from a cart on the street next to my husband’s office. There are 7-9 of them selling the fruits of the season. At the moment I’m indulging in grapefruit, pineapple, watermelon and orange. The sweetness of the citrus fruits here are just incredible. I try to have cut fruit in the fridge for convenient snacking. What fruits do you eat?

Movie night

Instead of showing my own native today I figured I should show where I actually get many of my natives.
There is a place around the corner from where I live that is called Life House, its a house rebuilt to a studio for African dance, Yoga, Zumba, Pilates and different kinds of activities.

They also arrange a big variety of cultural event such as art shows, music performances, book readings and every Thursday they will screen an African film. These movie nights are really something else. Its so interesting to see something that you normally wouldn’t find. They also have a small coffee shop and a clothing store with their own brand, Zebra. They do stunning dresses in native fabric but with very wearable designs.

The movie screened yesterday was a comedy set in Paris and touch upon things as immigration and how to accept a new culture but still keep your own.

This is Ugoma, she is the designer and founder of Zebra and toghether with her husband they are running this place. See some of her stunning designs below!
